The Division of Infectious Diseases is a section of the Department of Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University, based at University Hospital, in Syracuse, NY. The ID Division is focused on patient care, teaching, and biomedical research in the field of infectious disease and microbial pathogenesis.

Division Faculty are responsible for medical directorship of the infection control programs at University Hospital, Crouse Hospital, and VA Hospital of Syracuse, as well as directorship of outpatient services to include the Central New York Immune Health Services, Infectious Disease Associates of Syracuse.

Our faculty also provide inpatient consultation to patients at University Hospital, Crouse Hospital and VA Hospital of Syracuse as well as our affiliation with the Onondaga County Health Department's STD Clinic.

Mission Statement

  • Provide expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases and offer specialty care to all patients referred to us.
  • Teach fellows, residents, and medical students about issues relevant to infectious diseases.
  • Conduct fundamental and clinical research in the areas of microbiology, immunology, and infectious diseases.
